About Us
The Archway is a comfortable Victorian quality guest house, tastefully furnished throughout.
We have a comfortable sitting area in the dining room stocked with maps, local information, daily and local papers and a few games, jigsaws and DVD’s.
The house is entirely non-smoking and has been awarded four stars by the English Tourist Board.
Our front rooms have distant mountain views of Coniston Old Man, Wetherlam, Crinkle Crags, Scafell Pike, Great Gable and the Langdale Pikes.
The guest house is well established and has built up a good reputation. In 2009 Jennifer won the Cumbrian Tourism Outstanding Customer Service Award and was a finalist in the Northwest tourist awards. We also were awarded a Visit England breakfast award. A warm welcome, good food and the comfort of guests are our priority.
We are a young couple who have been professionally trained in the hospitality business, the response from our guests old and new has been a welcome and warming confirmation that our efforts are correctly focussed and appreciated.
